Asian Hawkers Market

Delhi is often termed as a foodie’s heaven and every month a food festival is organised to celebrate this passion of food. After the roaring success of the first edition of The Asian Hawkers Market, Select CITYWALK presented the city with the second edition. Sponsored by Veeba, the food festival saw different Pan Asian restaurants flaunting their best dishes and customized menus.

Being a die hard fan of Pan Asian cuisine, I knew that I couldn’t miss this one. The line up of restaurants that were a part of the festival was impressive which included Pa Pa Ya , The Bento Cafe and Asia7 amongst the other popular ones. Select CITYWALK made sure that the second edition of the Asian Hawkers was larger and better than the first edition. About 32 restaurants participated in the festival and dished out around 125 dishes which included signature dishes from popular Asian joints.

Asia7 , a prominent player in the Pan Asian cuisine served some fantastic sushi. Loved how brilliantly well the Salmon Maki roll was prepared. It had an intriguing flavour which tasted well along with the dip it was served with. This one won the vote of my taste buds.

Le Meridien’s Latest Recipe again impressed me with it’s popular Okonomiyaki Pancakes which are savoury. A Japanese preparation, the dish has been made popular by Chef Tanveer Kwatra, the Head Chef of Le Meridien. ‘Okonomi’, a Japanese term for ‘what you want’ or ‘what you like’, holds the essence of the preparation. With a variety of ingredients used this one was a delicious pick. The stall saw some authentic dishes being served with the chef’s showing their skills through their master cooking.

The Live Teppanyaki Grill at Benihana was a sight to watch. The Japanese chefs tossed and hacked iron grills to create magic with shrimps, steak and other meats. The counter was buzzing with excitement and some interesting flavours which had everyone drawn to it. The chefs looked like masters of the game and amazed everyone not only with their dishes but also with their skills.

The second edition of the Asian Hawkers Market was indeed a cultural extravaganza. From the best of Asian food, great music and street dances, the festival turned out to be a gala event. Select CITYWALK played the perfect host and made sure the shoppers got a good dose of some lip smacking food. The restaurants made sure that the guests got a taste of their popular dishes and put their best food out there. A grand event for foodies deserves all the love and attention that caters to their interest. Can’t wait to visit the next edition of this amazing festival.
